Dow Jones has worst week since 2008

The Dow Jones decreased more than 900 points. It is ending the worst week since 2008. The Dow fell 913.21 points, or 4.5%, to 19,173.98. The S&P 500 fell 4.3% after being up 1.8% earlier.

The coronavirus Covid-19 has caused much problems. Stocks fell sharply and the price of oil sank Friday as federal and state governments moved to shut down bigger areas of the nation's economy. The hope is to limit the spread of the virus outbreak.

Unfortunately, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell more than 900 points, ending the week with a 17.3% loss. The index has declined in 4 of the last 5 weeks. Many people are selling off stocks because of their fears of the future. Investors fear the chance that the coronavirus Covid-19 will create a deep recession for USA and other economies.

The efforts to contain the spread of the virus outbreaks are resulting in non-essential workers staying home. The problems created are business disruptions, layoffs and people quitting their jobs. Hopefully, emergency actions taken by central banks and governments will help to ease the economic damage. Soon, new created legislation could send billions more of dollars into hurting households and industries. The coronavirus Covid-19 is shutting down much of the economy.

At the current time, oil prices are decreasing. This is because of increased supplies when demand is declining.

More than 10,000 people have died because of the coronavirus Covid-19. There are now more than 246,000 cases worldwide. Almost 85,000 have recovered from this virus.

Apple stock (NASDAQ: AAPL) had a great growth in 2019. Now, in 2020 the Apple stock keeps sinking lower. Facebook (NASDAQ: FB) has also fallen a lot in 2020. Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN) is performing comparatively better in 2020.
