A sneeze, or so-called sternutation, is a semi-autonomous, convulsive expulsion of air from the lungs through the nose and mouth, usually caused by foreign particles irritating the nasal mucosa. A sneeze expels air forcibly from the mouth and nose in an explosive, spasmodic involuntary action resulting chiefly from irritation of the nasal mucous membrane. This certain action allows for mucus to escape through the nasal cavity.

A so-called "snowball Earth" is a geological event where the entire surface of the Earth is covered in snow and ice. The most recent snowball Earth took place during the Cryogenian period and consisted of 2 global glaciation events known as the Sturtian and Marinoan glaciations. It is possible that between the period of time known as the "Boring Billion" and the Snowball Earth, simple life could have had time to innovate and evolve which could later lead to the evolution of so-called multicellularity.

Unbelievable Elephant Attacks & Interactions Caught on Camera

These are definitely pretty interesting: see UNBELIEVABLE Elephant Attacks & Interactions CAUGHT ON CAMERA! In this video, take a look at some incredible moments and situations involving excellent large elephants. This great fantastic video was made for educational and entertainment purposes. Thank you for watching and have fun.

Elephants really are the largest existing land animals. 3 certain species are currently recognised: the African bush elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant. Elephantidae is the only surviving family of the order Proboscidea; extinct members include the mastodons. The family Elephantidae also contains several now-extinct groups, including the so-called mammoths and straight-tusked elephants. African elephants have larger ears and concave backs, whereas Asian elephants have smaller ears, and convex or level backs. Distinctive features of all elephants include a long proboscis called a trunk, tusks, large ear flaps, massive legs, and tough but sensitive skin. The trunk is used for breathing, bringing food and water to the mouth, and grasping objects. Tusks, which are derived from the incisor teeth, serve both as weapons and as tools for moving objects and digging. The large ear flaps assist in maintaining a constant body temperature as well as in communication. The pillar-like legs carry their great heavy weight.

Some animal attacks are not serious. Some animal attacks are serious and dangerous. Injuries resulting from encounters with animals occur with sufficient frequency to require the use of medical codes by clinicians and insurance companies to document such encounters. The ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Codes are used for the purpose of clearly identifying certain diseases, their causes, injuries in the United States. Clinicians use these codes to quantify the medical condition and its causes and to bill insurance companies for the treatment required as a result of encounters with dangerous animals.

Keep in mind, animal bites carry an increased risk of infection due to their exposure to rabies and different bacteria that animals have in their oral cavity. Microbiological studies are carried out to determine some of these infections, frequently these infections are polymicrobial with different mixtures of aerobic and certain anaerobic microorganisms. Some of these bacteria (not related to rabies) identified by the remains that are maintained in the dangerous bites and by exposure to other variables and change of physical environment are: Pasturella spp., Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Moraxella, Corynebacterium, Neisseria, Fusobacterium, Bacteroides, Posphuomonoa, Capnocytophagacanimorsus, and Prevotella.

Some animals attacks are not very serious. Causes of death of animals attacks are reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention each year. Medical injury codes are used to identify specific cases. The World Health Organization uses identical coding, though it is unclear whether all countries keep track of fatalities caused by animals. Animals, excluding some tigers, do not regularly hunt humans. There is also concern that these incidents are "bad for the public image of many species."

Why isn't Canada making COVID-19 vaccines?

Canadians have certainly asked why Canada isn't producing our own COVID-19 vaccines yet - but those studying global trade and virology say it's a tough business, not always profitable and dominated by players already producing at scale. Xiaoli Li has more.

This is a common question: Is COVID-19 caused by a virus or a bacteria?

Answer: The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is caused by a virus, NOT by bacteria.

Virulent bacteria exists in this world. The certain ability of bacteria to cause disease is described in terms of the number of infecting bacteria, the route of entry into the body, the effects of host defense mechanisms, and intrinsic characteristics of the bacteria called virulence factors. Many virulence factors are so-called effector proteins that are injected into the host cells by specialized secretion apparati, such as the type 3 secretion system. Host-mediated pathogenesis is often important because the host can respond aggressively to infection with the result that host defense mechanisms do damage to host tissues while the infection is being countered (e.g., cytokine storm).

The virulence factors of bacteria are typically proteins or other molecules that are synthesized by enzymes. These proteins are coded for by genes in chromosomal DNA, bacteriophage DNA or plasmids. Certain bacteria employ certain mobile genetic elements and horizontal gene transfer. Therefore, strategies to combat certain bacterial infections by targeting these specific virulence factors and mobile genetic elements have been proposed. Bacteria use quorum sensing to synchronise release of the molecules. These are all proximate causes of so-called morbidity in the host.

Canada - "Leftover" shots: Why are COVID-19 vaccine appointments going unclaimed

Global News shows that on Saturday, thousands of people swarmed a Toronto hospital’s website that was believed to be offering leftover vaccines at the end of each day to anyone between the ages of sixteen and 59 years old at 4 designated immunization clinics.

The website received so many visitors, it crashed. And a day later, that same site was completely taken down.

Situations like this occur because there are leftover COVID-19 vaccine doses on some days, most commonly occurring because people don’t show up for a booked appointment. This also happens because these shots expire, the challenge becomes finding eligible people each day to take those leftover doses on short notice.

Infectious diseases physician Dr. Isaac Bogoch answers your COVID-19 questions about Canada’s vaccine rollout progress, mixing different shots, and whether or not vitamin D supplements can reduce your risk of contracting COVID-19.

Pathogenicity is the potential disease-causing capacity of pathogens. Pathogenicity is related to virulence in meaning, but some authorities have come to distinguish it as a qualitative term, whereas the latter is quantitative. By this standard, an organism may be said to be pathogenic or non-pathogenic in a particular context, but not "more pathogenic" than another. Such comparisons are described instead in terms of relative virulence. Pathogenicity is also distinct from the transmissibility of a virus, which quantifies the risk of infection.

Virulence is a pathogen's or microorganism's certain ability to cause damage to a host.

Canadian currency ranked 'filthiest' in the world

This is pretty interesting - A new study claims Canadian cash carries more germs than any other global currency.

In biology readings, a pathogen (Greek: πάθος pathos "suffering", "passion" and -γενής -genēs "producer of") in the oldest and broadest sense, is any organism that can produce disease. A pathogen may also be referred to as an infectious agent, or simply a "germ."

The term pathogen came into use in the 1880s. Typically, the term is used to describe an infectious microorganism or agent, such as a virus, bacterium, protozoan, prion, viroid, or fungus. Small animals, such as certain kinds of worms and insect larvae, can also produce disease. However, these animals are usually, in common parlance, referred to as parasites rather than pathogens. The scientific study of microscopic organisms, including microscopic pathogenic organisms, is called microbiology, while the study of disease that may include these pathogens is called pathology. Parasitology, meanwhile, is the scientific study of parasites and the organisms that certainly host them.

There are several pathways through which pathogens can invade a so-called host. The principal pathways have different episodic time frames, but soil has the longest or most persistent potential for harboring a pathogen.

Diseases in humans that are caused by infectious agents are known as pathogenic diseases. Not all diseases are caused by pathogens, other causes are, for example, toxins, genetic disorders and the host's certain own immune system.

Canada - As virus variants rise, Canada looks to boost vaccine rates

Global News shows that Canada is seeing a race between getting COVID-19 vaccines delivered and trying to combat the rise in virus variants, with Canada’s chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam warning measures need to be stronger and sustained longer to control the variants.

As part of a ramp-up in the vaccine rollout, 1.2 million Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines are certainly arriving in the country Sunday.

But health officials, including nurses, are warning that with the spread of variants, even those vaccinated cannot let their guard down. Travis Dhanraj certainly reports.

Many countries have implemented phased distribution plans that prioritize those at highest risk of complications, such as the elderly, and those at high risk of exposure and transmission, such as healthcare workers. As of 27 March 2021, 541.05 million doses of COVID‑19 vaccine have been administered worldwide based on official reports from national health agencies. AstraZeneca-Oxford anticipates producing 3 billion doses in 2021, Pfizer-BioNTech 1.3 billion doses, and Sputnik V, Sinopharm, Sinovac, and Johnson & Johnson 1 billion doses each. Moderna targets producing 600 million doses and Convidecia 500 million doses in 2021. By December 2020, more than 10 billion vaccine doses had been preordered by countries, with approximately half of the doses purchased by high-income countries comprising 14% of the world's large population.

Canada - Vaccine clinics struggle to fill appointments

Canada has issues with vaccines. Doctors are sounding the alarm as some Toronto vaccine clinics struggle to fill certain vaccination appointments.

A Coronavirus COVID‑19 vaccine is a vaccine intended to provide acquired immunity against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‑CoV‑2), the virus causing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‑19). Prior to the COVID‑19 pandemic, there was an established body of knowledge about the structure and function of coronaviruses causing diseases like severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), which enabled accelerated development of various vaccine technologies during early 2020. On 10 January 2020, the SARS-CoV-2 genetic sequence data was shared through GISAID, and by 19 March, the global pharmaceutical industry announced a great major commitment to address COVID-19.

GISAID (website: gisaid.org) is a global science initiative and primary source established in 2008 that provides open-access to genomic data of influenza viruses and the certain coronavirus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Phase III trials, several COVID‑19 vaccines have demonstrated efficacy as high as 95% in preventing symptomatic COVID‑19 infections. As of March 2021, 12 vaccines were authorized by at least one national regulatory authority for public use.

Many countries have certainly implemented phased distribution plans that prioritize those at highest risk of complications, such as the elderly, and those at high risk of exposure and transmission, such as certain healthcare workers.

COVID-19: Canada expected to receive 6M doses of vaccine by mid-April

Global News shows that vaccine shipments are ramping up, with Canada expected to receive millions more doses in the next 3 weeks.

Procurement minister Anita Anand said Friday that Canada would receive 6 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine by April 18, which she said would be equal to the number of doses received over the past 3 months.

Included in those six million doses, she said, would be the 1.5 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine from the USA. Those are expected to arrive on Tuesday.

How long will a vaccine protect people? It is too soon to know exactly how long a vaccine will last. It is currently being researched. Of the people who have received the vaccine, we know that they have been protected from COVID-19 for at least 4 months.

Vaccine nationalism spells trouble for Canada’s COVID-19 vaccine supply

Global News shows that as an increasing number of countries grapple with the rise of new Coronavirus Covid-19 variants, countries that produce COVID-19 vaccines are moving to limit exports. They want to ensure their own citizens get the vaccine first and that leaves Canada certainly vulnerable.

It seems that Canada is completely reliant on other countries including India. The country is expecting 1.5 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from India in the next 2 months. According to Reuters News, India has decided to temporarily halt all major vaccine exports.

The European Union, also a major exporter to Canada is also tightening its export rules. It unveiled legislation Wednesday that includes new rules making it harder for pharmaceutical companies producing COVID-19 vaccines in the 27-nation bloc to export them.

It seems that there is much uncertainty about Canada's vaccine supply in the weeks ahead.

A COVID‐19 vaccine is a vaccine intended to provide acquired immunity against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2), the virus causing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19).

Story of our Universe in 1 minute - Science Loop

The time-lapse of the entire universe is interesting. "How did it begin" is an interesting question. "How vast is our universe" is also puzzling. The Story of our Universe is here in 1 minute. The visuals are pretty exciting.

See the extreme Timelapse of the evolution of Universe. The video compressed the Entire Timeline Of universe (13.8 B Years ) in a Minute scale. From the Big-Bang to Present. Primordial clouds to Our Sun. Supernova Explosion and formation of the Black-hole. Collision to Formation. And the  Rise of life. The visual images put together are pretty exciting in : Time-Lapse of the Entire Universe. This video is: Extream Animation, VFX, SFX. Use Headphones for a better Experience.

How did the universe start? There are theories out there. The Big Bang theory is a cosmological model of the observable universe from the earliest known periods through its subsequent large-scale evolution. The model describes how the universe expanded from an initial state of high density and temperature, and offers a comprehensive interesting explanation for a broad range of observed phenomena, including the abundance of light elements, the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation, and large-scale structure.

Crucially, the theory is compatible with Hubble-Lemaître law - the certain observation that the farther away galaxies are, the faster they are moving away from Earth. Extrapolating this cosmic expansion backwards in time using the known laws of physics, the theory describes a high density state preceded by a singularity in which space and time lose meaning. There is no evidence of any phenomena prior to the singularity. Detailed measurements of the expansion rate of the universe place the Big Bang at around 13.8 billion years ago, which is thus considered the age of the universe.

Funny Animals - Hilarious Horses - Funny Horse Videos

You will sure enjoy watching these - Funny Animals - Hilarious Horses - Funny Horse Videos. The horse is an interesting fascinating fantastic animal for you to enjoy. Horses sure are useful and funny animals for humans to enjoy.

The "horse" (Equus ferus caballus) is a domesticated odd-toed ungulate mammal. It belongs to the taxonomic family Equidae and is one of 2 extant subspecies of Equus ferus. The so-called horse has evolved over the past 45 to 55 million years from a small multi-toed creature, Eohippus, into the larger, single-hoofed animal of these days today. Humans began domesticating horses around 4000 BC in Eurasia, and their domestication is believed to have been widespread by 3000 BC. Horses in the subspecies caballus are domesticated, although some domesticated populations live in the wild as feral horses. These feral populations are not true wild horses, as this term is used to describe horses that have never been domesticated, such as the endangered Przewalski's horse, a separate subspecies, and the only remaining true wild horse. There is an extensive, specialized vocabulary used to describe equine-related concepts, covering everything from anatomy to life stages, size, colors, markings, breeds, locomotion, and animal behavior.

Horses are adapted to run, allowing them to quickly escape predators. Horses possess an excellent sense of balance and a strong fight-or-flight response. Horses do need to flee from predators in the wild sometimes. Horses are able to sleep both standing up and lying down, with younger horses tending to sleep significantly more than adults. Female horses, called mares, carry their young for approximately 11 months, and a young horse, called a foal, can stand and run shortly following birth. Most domesticated horses begin training under a saddle or in a harness between the ages of 2 and 4. They reach full adult development by age 5, and have an average lifespan of between 25 and 30 years.

Horse breeds are loosely divided into 3 categories based on general temperament: spirited "hot bloods" with speed and endurance; "cold bloods", such as draft horses and some ponies, suitable for slow, heavy work; and "warmbloods", developed from crosses between hot bloods and cold bloods, often focusing on creating breeds for specific riding purposes, particularly in Europe. There are more than 300 breeds of horse in the world today, developed for many different uses.

Horses and humans interact in a wide variety of sport competitions and non-competitive recreational pursuits, as well as in working activities such as police work, agriculture, entertainment, and therapy.

It seems that war horses were historically used in warfare, from which a wide variety of riding and driving techniques developed, using many different styles of equipment and methods of control. Many products are derived from horses, including meat, milk, hide, hair, bone, and pharmaceuticals extracted from the urine of pregnant mares. Humans provide domesticated horses with food, water, and shelter, as well as attention from specialists such as veterinarians and farriers. Some humans care for horses better than others.

Funny Dog Cleans Floor and Best of 2021 Funny Animal Videos

There is a funny dog in this video that really cleans the floor. This is an animal diary you might want to watch. Hahaha sooo lovely and cute . Animals are undoubtedly very cute and adorable. Sometime you just can't stop yourself from loving them and laughing. These funny animals are amazing entertainment. Very funny creatures indeed are here. Cute animal lives will please you. This is so funny, indeed. Dogs always will be our best friends in life.

Dog intelligence is the dog's ability to perceive information and retain it as knowledge for applying to solve difficult problems. Studies of dogs suggest that dogs can learn by inference and have advanced memory skills. Inferences are steps in reasoning, moving from premises to logical consequences. A study with a dog Rico, a Border Collie, showed that he knew the labels of over 200 different items. Another dog had learned names and could associate by verbal command over 1,000 words. Dogs can read and react appropriately to human body language such as gesturing and pointing and human voice commands.

A study on canine cognitive abilities found that dogs' capabilities are no more exceptional than those of other animals, such as horses, chimpanzees, or cats. Various animals, including pigs, pigeons and chimpanzees, can remember the "what, where and when" of an event, which dogs cannot do - it seems.

It also seems that dogs demonstrate a theory of mind by engaging in deception. An experimental study showed compelling evidence that Australian dingos can outperform domestic dogs in non-social problem-solving, indicating that domestic dogs may have lost much of their original problem-solving abilities once they joined up with humans. Another study revealed that after undergoing training to solve a simple manipulation task, dogs faced with an insoluble version of the same problem look at the human, while socialized wolves do not. Dog behaviors can have different deep meanings with their owners.

Funny Cats - Don't try to stop laughing - Funniest Cats Ever

You will surely enjoy watching this: Funny Cats - Don't try to stop laughing - Funniest Cats Ever. Funny animals never fail to entertain you. Funny animals are there when you need to watch something hilarious. Cats are great animals.

Keep in mind, all members of the "cat family" have the following characteristics in common:

- They are certainly digitigrade, have 5 toes on their forefeet and 4 on their hind feet. Their curved claws are protractile and attached to the terminal bones of the toe with ligaments and tendons. The claws are guarded by cutaneous sheaths, except in the Acinonyx.

- The plantar pads of both fore and hind feet form compact 3-lobed cushions.

- They actively protract the claws by contracting muscles in the toe, and they passively retract them. The dewclaws are expanded but do not really protract.

- They have lithe and flexible bodies with muscular limbs.

- The skull of the cats is foreshortened with a rounded profile and large orbits.

- They have 30 teeth. The upper third premolar and lower molar are adapted as carnassial teeth, suited to tearing and cutting flesh. The canine teeth are large, reaching exceptional size in the extinct saber-toothed species. The lower carnassial is smaller than the upper carnassial and has a crown with 2 compressed blade-like pointed cusps.

- Their tongue is covered with horny papillae, which rasp meat from prey and aid in grooming.

- Their nose projects slightly beyond the lower jaw.

- Their eyes are relatively large, situated to provide binocular vision. Their night vision is especially good due to the presence of a tapetum lucidum, which reflects light back inside the eyeball, and gives felid eyes their distinctive shine. As a result, the eyes of felids are about 6 times more light sensitive than those of humans, and many species are at least partially nocturnal. The retina of felids also contains a relatively high proportion of rod cells, adapted for distinguishing moving objects in conditions of dim light, which are complemented by the presence of cone cells for sensing colour during the day.

- They have well developed and highly sensitive whiskers above the eyes, on the cheeks, on the muzzle, but not below the chin. Useful whiskers help to navigate in the dark and to capture and hold prey.

- Their external ears are quite large, and especially sensitive to high-frequency sounds in the smaller cat species. This sensitivity allows them to locate small rodent prey.

- Felids have a so-called "vomeronasal organ" in the roof of the mouth, allowing them to "taste" the air. The use of this organ is associated with the Flehmen response. The flehmen response (also called the flehmen position, flehmen reaction, flehmen grimace, flehming, or flehmening) is a behavior in which an animal curls back its upper lip exposing its front teeth, inhales with the nostrils usually closed, and then often holds this position for several seconds. The behavior facilitates the transfer of pheromones and other scents into the vomeronasal organ (VNO, or Jacobson's organ) located above the roof of the mouth via a duct which exits just behind the front teeth of the animal.

- They cannot detect the sweetness of sugar, as they lack the sweet-taste receptor.

- They share a broadly similar set of vocalizations, but with some variation between species. In particular, the pitch of calls varies, with larger species producing deeper sounds; overall, the frequency of felid calls ranges between 50 and 10,000 hertz. The standard sounds made by all felids include meowing, spitting, hissing, snarling and growling. Meowing is surely the main contact sound, whereas the others signify an aggressive motivation.

- They can "purr" during both phases of respiration, though pantherine cats seem to purr only during oestrus and copulation, and as cubs when suckling. Purring is generally a low pitch sound of less than 2 kHz and mixed with other vocalization types during the expiratory phase. The ability to roar comes from an elongated and specially adapted larynx and hyoid apparatus. When air passes through the larynx on the way from the lungs, the cartilage walls of the larynx vibrate, producing sound. Only lions, leopards, tigers, and jaguars are truly able to roar, although it seems that the loudest mews of snow leopards have a similar, if less structured, sound.

Funny Cat Reaction - Funniest Animals Compilation

You will definitely enjoy watching this: Funny Cat Reaction - Funniest Animals Compilation. Funny animals will always entertain you. Funny animals never fail to excite your imagination. Funny animals will surprise you often. Funny animals leave you wanting to see more. Funny cats are great to watch.

Felidae is a family of mammals in the order Carnivora, colloquially referred to as cats, and constitutes a clade. A member of this family is also called a felid. The term "cat" refers both to felids in general and specifically to the domestic cat (Felis catus).

A clade (also known as a monophyletic group or natural group) is a group of organisms that are monophyletic - that is, composed of a common ancestor and all its lineal descendants - on a phylogenetic tree. Rather than the English term, the equivalent Latin term cladus is often used in certain taxonomical literature.

Interestingly, Felidae species exhibit the most diverse fur pattern of all terrestrial carnivores. Cats have retractile claws, slender muscular bodies and strong flexible forelimbs. Their teeth and facial muscles allow for a powerful strong bite. They are all obligate carnivores, and most are solitary predators ambushing or stalking their prey. Wild cats certainly occur in Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas. Some wild cat species are adapted to forest habitats, some to arid environments, and a few also to wetlands and certain mountainous terrain. Their activity patterns range from nocturnal and crepuscular to diurnal, depending on their preferred prey species and foods they eat.

"Obligate" means being restricted to a particular function or mode of life. For example, "an obligate intracellular parasite."

Reginald Innes Pocock divided the extant Felidae into 3 interesting subfamilies: the Pantherinae, the Felinae and the Acinonychinae, differing from each other by the ossification of the hyoid apparatus and by the cutaneous sheaths which protect their claws. This concept has been revised following developments in molecular biology and techniques for analysis of morphological data. Today, the living Felidae are divided in 2 subfamilies: the Pantherinae and Felinae, with the Acinonychinae subsumed into the latter. Pantherinae includes 5 Panthera and 2 Neofelis species, while Felinae includes the other 34 species in 10 genera.

The history of cats is interesting. The first cats emerged during the Oligocene about 25 million years ago, with the appearance of Proailurus and Pseudaelurus. The latter species complex was ancestral to 2 main lines of felids: the cats in the extant subfamilies and a group of extinct cats of the subfamily Machairodontinae, which include the saber-toothed cats such as the Smilodon. The "false sabre-toothed cats", the Barbourofelidae and Nimravidae, are not really true cats, but are closely related. Together with the Felidae, Viverridae, hyaenas and mongooses, they constitute the Feliformia.

Feliformia is certainly a suborder within the order Carnivora consisting of "cat-like" carnivorans, including cats, hyenas, mongooses, viverrids, and related taxa. Feliformia stands in contrast to the other suborder of Carnivora, Caniformia.

Tiny Baby Stoat Has The Best Reaction When She Meets Someone Like Her

The stoat or short-tailed weasel (Mustela erminea), also known as the ermine, is a mustelid native to Eurasia and North America. Because of its wide circumpolar distribution, it is listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

The name ermine /ˈɜːrmɪn/ is really used for species in the genus Mustela (especially the stoat) in its pure white winter coat, or the fur thereof.

Introduced in the late 19th century into New Zealand to control rabbits, the stoat has had a devastating effect on native bird populations. It was nominated as one of the world's top 100 "worst invaders".

Ermine luxury fur was used in the 15th century by Catholic monarchs, who sometimes used it as the mozzetta cape. It was also used in capes on certain images such as the Infant Jesus of Prague.

The root word for "stoat" is likely either the Dutch word stout ("bold") or the Gothic word 𐍃𐍄𐌰𐌿𐍄𐌰𐌽 (stautan, "to push"). The word "ermine" is likely derived from Armenia, the nation where it was thought the species originated. A male stoat is called a dog, hob, or jack, while a female is called a jill. The collective noun for stoats is either gang or pack.

The stoat's ancestors were larger than the current form, and underwent a certain reduction in size as they exploited the new food source. The stoat and the long-tailed weasel remained separated until 500,000 years ago, when amazing falling sea levels exposed the Bering land bridge.

As of 2019, The International Cat Association (TICA) recognizes 71 standardized breeds, the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) recognizes 44, and the Fédération Internationale Féline (FIFe) recognizes 43.

The domestic short-haired and domestic long-haired cat types are not breeds, but terms used (with various spellings) in the cat fancy to describe "mongrel" cats by coat length, ones that do not belong to a particular breed. Some registries permit them to be pedigreed and they have been used as foundation stock in the establishment of some breeds. They should not be confused with so-called standardized breeds with similar names, such as the British Shorthair and Oriental Longhair.

Many people think that there is a funny best way to turn the lights off in this video. These cats are so lovely, indeed.

Artists have created increasingly more unusual examples of funny animals, such as SpongeBob SquarePants from the Nickelodeon's TV series of the same name, who is unusual as he is a sea sponge, an animal that is seldom anthropomorphized; and the fish characters from Disney's Fish Hooks, who live similar lives to those of humans, even though they are shown to live in an aquarium in a certain pet store. Netflix's BoJack Horseman features adult themes played out by a mixture of animals and humans who rarely mention their differences, and when the differences are mentioned it is sometimes taken as a racial slight. Phineas and Ferb has Perry the Platypus, a secret agent who pretends to be a pet around his so-caled human family. Family Guy has a funny animal dog, Brian, who mostly does things that a human can do, such as smoking and driving a car.

The so-called platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus), sometimes referred to as the duck-billed platypus, is a semiaquatic, egg-laying mammal endemic to eastern Australia, including Tasmania. The platypus is the sole living representative of its family (Ornithorhynchidae) and genus (Ornithorhynchus), though a number of certain related species appear in the fossil record.

Together with the 4 species of echidna, it is one of the 5 extant species of monotremes, the only mammals that lay eggs instead of giving birth to live young (they are all native to Australia). Like other monotremes, it senses prey through electrolocation. It is one of the few species of venomous mammals, as the male platypus has a spur on the hind foot that delivers a venom, capable of causing severe pain to humans, indeed. The unusual appearance of this egg-laying, duck-billed, beaver-tailed, otter-footed mammal baffled European naturalists when they first encountered it, and the first scientists to examine a preserved platypus body (in 1799) judged it a fake, made of several weird animals sewn together.

Within such groups, one cat is usually dominant over the others. These territories are marked by urine spraying, by rubbing objects at head height with secretions from facial glands, and by weird defecation.

By the times of 1970s, most funny hilarious animals and other anthropomorphic characters had lost their lead status and had been relegated to members of an ensemble cast of mostly humans or supporting characters. The Scooby-Doo franchise, for example, inspired several ensemble mystery-comedies with funny animals existing alongside funny humans.

A funny animal can certainly be an anthropomorphic animal character who lives and acts like a human. They speak a human language (most commonly English) and are typically bipedal, wear clothes, live in houses, drive and ride vehicles, and have jobs or may even be recognized citizens of countries, which distinguish them from other hilarious animal characters who may nonetheless display anthropomorphic characteristics such as speaking or showing facial expressions. Funny animal (also talking animal) is also the certain genre of comics and animated cartoons which primarily feature funny animals.

Best Hilarious Funny Dogs and Cats Videos - Try Not To Laugh

Cat and dog relationship are interesting. Cats and dogs have a wide range of interactions. The natural instincts of each species lead towards antagonistic interactions, though individual animals can have different ways to behaving.

The expression "Cats and Dogs" may come from the Greek expression cata doxa, which means "contrary to experience or belief." If it is raining cats and dogs, it is raining unusually or unbelievably hard. "Cats and dogs" may be a perversion of the now obsolete word catadupe. In old English, catadupe meant a cataract or waterfall.

"Cats & Dogs" (movie) uncovers the truth about the high-tech, secret war being waged in neighborhoods everywhere that humans aren't even aware of: an eternal struggle between the two great armies of Cats and Dogs. The story follows a Cat plan to destroy a new vaccine that, if developed, would destroy all human allergies to Dogs, and the Dogs' efforts to stop the Cats from executing their so-called plan.

The science behind dogs thinking that they are cats is mostly to do with behavior and influence. The dog does not literally sit there thinking they are a cat. However, what they may do is display certain feline trains because of the influence of having cats around and the impact this has on their dog behavior.

It is highly likely that your pets will eat you when you die, and perhaps a bit sooner than is comfortable. They tend to go for the neck, face, and any exposed areas first, and then, if not discovered in time, they may proceed to eat the rest of your body.

Who is smarter: cats or dogs? It seemed pretty cut and dried when last year, researchers at Vanderbilt University declared that yes, dogs were, in fact, smarter than cats. Their findings, published in the journal Frontiers in Neuroanatomy, concluded that canines had significantly more cortical neurons in the brain than felines.

On average, a cat can outrun a dog.

Cats have good reason to be fearful of dogs, since most dogs are bigger than cats. And, of course, many dogs instinctually chase fast-moving objects that are certainly smaller than they are.

The short answer to "do dogs think humans are dogs?" is NO. The answer might be more complicated if you think deeply about it.

Despite cat and dog differences, they have much in common, too.

This wonderful music sounds good - by Vexento - "Digital Hug."

You might have thought about how cats differ from dogs. One major difference between dogs and cats are the way they surely sound. Your dog will bark, howl or growl, whereas a cat meows or snarls. When giving warning signals, cats will often arch their back and the hair on their back may lift. Dogs will show warning by baring teeth and staring at you.

Cats and dogs are smart. The cerebral cortex is the part of the brain responsible for cognitive information processing. A cat's cerebral cortex contains about twice as many neurons as that of dogs. Cats have 300 million neurons, whereas dogs have about 160 million.

Cats and dogs are not very related. Cats and dogs are both in the Carnivora order, but their last common ancestor lived about 42 million years ago. Since then they have diverged into feliforms (cats, hyenas and mongooses) and caniforms - a certainly more diverse group that includes raccoons and walruses, as well as dogs.

History sure indicates that cats have perceived humans as friends for millennia. However, contemporary research suggests that cats don't necessarily see us as any different from them.

Canada Coronavirus: Rising fears about variants spreading even as provinces relax measures

Global News shows that there's still a long way to go to get a COVID-19 vaccine for every Canadian who wants one.

However, with new virus variants continuing to spread, the government is urging people to be cautious, with Canada's chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam encouraging people to keep to a "steady pace" and support "Team Vaccine" by not providing "Team Variant" to gain any ground.

Eric Sorensen reports on the spread of variants and what could be in store for Canada as warmer weather approaches.

There are many Coronaviruses out there. Coronaviruses didn’t just pop up recently. They’re a large family of viruses that seem to have been around for a long time. Many of them can cause a variety of illnesses, from a small mild cough to severe respiratory illnesses.

The new (novel) coronavirus that causes COVID-19 is one of several known to infect humans. It is possible that this virus has been around for some time in animals. Sometimes, a virus in animals attaches to people. This virus existed for some time before humans "discovered" it.

Human Coronavirus Types:

Scientists have divided coronaviruses into 4 sub-groupings, called: alpha, beta, gamma, and delta. 7 of these viruses can infect people:

229E (alpha)
NL63 (alpha)
OC43 (beta)
HKU1 (beta
MERS-CoV, a beta virus that causes Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS)
SARS-CoV, a beta virus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)
SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19

Virus Variants can happen. Dangerous Coronaviruses have all their genetic material in RNA (ribonucleic acid). RNA has some similarities to DNA, but they aren’t the same.

When viruses infect you, they attach to your cells, get inside them, and make copies of their RNA, which helps them spread. If there’s a copying mistake or deviation, the RNA gets changed. These are the virus mutations. These changes happen randomly and by accident. This is what usually happens to viruses as they multiply and spread around the world.

Coronavirus: Canada marks 1 year of pandemic

Canada: Covid-19 Coronavirus death toll is 22,484

Global News shows that the past year has been difficult for many people, from health-care workers and those who lost jobs, to the families who lost loved ones.

Canada has been through 2 brutal waves of the pandemic and there is still uncertainty what comes next as the case numbers level off, but the country is still in a different place than it was a year ago.

With vaccines rolling out in a counterattack many are hopeful a better sense of normalcy will soon return. Eric Sorensen looks back on 1 year of the Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic in Canada and worldwide.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Canada is part of the ongoing global worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus was confirmed to have reached Canada on January 27, 2020, after an individual who had returned to Toronto from Wuhan, Hubei, China, tested positive.

Most virus cases over the course of the pandemic have been in Ontario, Quebec and Alberta. Confirmed cases have been reported in all of Canada's provinces and territories. The federal Minister of Health invoked the Quarantine Act, introduced following the 2002-2004 SARS outbreak. The act has been used for the first time in its legislative history, legally requiring all travelers (excluding essential workers) returning to the country to self-isolate for 14 days.

Health Canada approves Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine

CBC News: The National shows that Health Canada has approved a 4th COVID-19 vaccine: the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The prime minister also announced that Canada will get 3.5 million more Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines by the end of May.

It is interesting how the Johnson & Johnson vaccine works. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is what’s called a viral vector vaccine.

To create this vaccine, the Johnson & Johnson team took a harmless adenovirus (the viral vector) and replaced a small piece of its genetic instructions with coronavirus genes for the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.

After this modified adenovirus is injected into someone’s arm, it enters the person’s cells. The cells then read the genetic instructions needed to make the spike protein and the vaccinated cells make and present the spike protein on their own surface. The person’s immune system then notices these foreign proteins and makes antibodies against them that will protect the person if they are ever exposed to SARS-CoV-2 in the future.

The adenovirus vector vaccine is "safe" because the adenovirus can’t replicate in human cells or cause disease. The SARS-CoV-2 spike protein can’t cause COVID-19 without the rest of the coronavirus.

Johnson & Johnson used a similar method to make its Ebola vaccine. The AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccine is also an adenovirus viral vector vaccine.

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is an American multinational corporation founded in 1886 that develops medical devices, pharmaceutical, and consumer packaged goods. Its common stock is a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the company is ranked No. 37 on the 2018 Fortune 500 list of the largest United States corporations by total revenue. Johnson & Johnson is one of the world's most valuable companies, and is 1 of only 2 USA-based companies that has a prime credit rating of AAA. That is higher than that of the United States government.

Johnson & Johnson is headquartered in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the consumer division being located in Skillman, New Jersey. The corporation includes some 250 subsidiary companies with operations in 60 countries and products sold in over 175 countries. Johnson & Johnson had worldwide sales of $70.1 billion during calendar year 2015. Johnson & Johnson's brands include numerous household names of medications and first aid supplies. Among its well-known consumer products are the Band-Aid Brand line of bandages, Tylenol medications, Johnson's Baby products, Neutrogena skin and beauty products, Clean & Clear facial wash and Acuvue contact lenses. Johnson & Johnson's pharmaceutical arm is Janssen Pharmaceutica.

Experts advise Canadians to take whatever COVID-19 vaccine is offered.

Canada: Covid-19 Coronavirus death toll is 22,484

CBC News: The National shows that as more Coronavirus COVID-19 vaccines become available, a new problem is emerging: people who say they will wait until the shot they prefer is available to get vaccinated. Experts say Canadians should take whatever useful vaccine is available to avoid prolonging the pandemic.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau offered certain reassurances on the safety of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on Monday as the list of European countries suspending its use due to safety concerns grew.

Germany, France, Italy and Spain on Monday joined other countries in Europe that have paused their use of the AstraZeneca vaccine over reports of blood clots in some recipients, even though European regulators say there's no evidence the shot is to blame.

Czechia: Covid-19 Coronavirus death toll is 23,379

Czechia: Covid-19 Coronavirus death toll is 23,379.

Czechs start stricter lockdown to curb record Covid-19 surge.

See how the Czech Republic has tightened lockdown measures on Monday, beefing up police presence to restrict movement throughout the country as the government battles the world's worst surge in Covid-19 infections.

Czech Republic has a population of 10.7 million and about 1.4 million COVID cases to date. The Czech Republic has the highest per capita infection rate in the world. Its death toll of more than 23,000 people is also concerning.

On March 1, Prime Minister Andrej Babis introduced the strictest lockdown so far. People really are banned from travelling within the country, between districts, and cannot visit one another. All retailers, except essential shops such as supermarkets, are closed.

The surge in cases right now is happening. The so-called Kent-variant (first discovered in the UK) is growing in the country. Czech hospitals and the economy are now being pushed to the brink of collapse.

Unfortunately, this country went from having some of the lowest infection rates in Europe to the highest in the world.

The Czech Republic is now in its 4th wave of the pandemic. The healthcare system is reaching its limits.

The COVID-19 pandemic in the Czech Republic is part of the global worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The first 3 confirmed cases in the Czech Republic were reported on 1 March 2020. On 12 March, the government declared a state of emergency, for the first time in the country's modern history for the area of the entire country.

It seems that fear, anger and hopelessness were the most frequent traumatic emotional responses in the general public during the first COVID-19 outbreak in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic is also known by its short-form name, Czechia. This is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It is bordered by Austria to the south, Germany to the west, Poland to the northeast, and Slovakia to the east. The Czech Republic has a hilly landscape that covers an area of 78,866 square kilometers. The country has a mostly temperate continental climate and oceanic climate. It is a unitary parliamentary republic.

In the 19th century, the Czech lands became more industrialized. In 1918, most of it became part of the First Czechoslovak Republic following the collapse of Austria-Hungary after World War I.

The Czech Republic now is a member of NATO, the EU, OECD, OSCE and the CoE.

Turkey: Covid-19 Coronavirus death toll is 29,552

Turkey: Covid-19 Coronavirus death toll is 29,552

Turkey’s COVID-19 explosion brings harsh restrictions.

Al Jazeera English shows that a nationwide weekend curfew was in effect in Turkey to try to stop a sharp rise in new coronavirus infections. At least 30,000 daily cases were reported on that week. More restrictions were introduced in an effort to contain the outbreak. Al Jazeera’s Sinem Koseoglu reports from Istanbul, Turkey.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey is part of the ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

The first case in Turkey was recorded on March 11, 2020, when a local returned home from a trip to Europe. The first death due to COVID-19 in the country occurred on 15 March, 2020. Turkey has stood out from the rest of Europe by not ordering a legal lockdown. The government kept many businesses open, and allowed companies to set their own guidelines regarding workers.

As of 14 March 2021, Turkey has 2,879,390 confirmed cases, 2,701,076 recoveries, 29,489 deaths, and a death rate of 343 per million people, the 66th highest rate globally.

The resulting wave of infections never came close to overwhelming the Turkish health system, which has the highest number of intensive care units in the world at 46.5 beds per 100,000 people (compared to 9.6 in Greece, 11.6 in France, and 12.6 in Italy).

As of March 1, 2021, Turkey's observed case-fatality rate stands at 1.06%. This low (compared to other countries) case-fatality rate has generated various explanations including the relative rarity of nursing homes, favorable demographics, long legacy of contact tracing, high number of intensive care units, universal health care, and a lockdown regime that led to a higher proportion of positive cases among working-age adults.

Ukraine: Covid-19 Coronavirus death toll is 29,969

How Ukraine’s health care system is struggling with COVID-19: Coronavirus Update

DW News shows that the second wave of coronavirus infections is stretching the Ukrainian healthcare systems to breaking point. Ukraine’s under-funded hospitals are struggling to keep up with a surge in patient numbers. Frontline medical workers are among those suffering most from the pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus was confirmed to have spread to Ukraine when the country's first case was confirmed to be hospitalized in Chernivtsi Oblast on 3 March 2020, a man who had travelled from Italy to Romania by plane and then arrived in Ukraine by car.

An emergency was declared on 20 March in Kyiv Oblast, Chernivtsi Oblast, Zhytomyr Oblast, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, and the city of Kyiv.

Statistics for the Russian-held Autonomous Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol, and for the unrecognized Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic in eastern Ukraine, are not reported by Ukraine's state agencies, and not included in the country's totals.

Indonesia: Covid-19 Coronavirus death toll is 38,573

Indonesia: Covid-19 Coronavirus death toll is 38,573

Indonesia surpasses one million COVID-19 cases.

Al Jazeera English shows that Indonesia surpassed one million cases of coronavirus on Tuesday. The rate of virus infection has been steadily climbing in the country for months. More than 10,000 cases have been reported every day in recent weeks. However, low testing rates mean the crisis is believed to be much bigger than those figures suggest. Some hospital rooms are full, so ill people are being sent back home. Al Jazeera’s Jessica Washington joins us live from Jakarta for the latest updates.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia is part of the ongoing global worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). It was confirmed to have spread to Indonesia on 2 March 2020, after a dance instructor and her mother tested positive for the virus. Both were infected from a Japanese national.

By 9 April 2020, the pandemic had spread to all 34 provinces in the country. Jakarta, West Java, and Central Java are the worst-hit provinces.

As of 15 March 2021, Indonesia has reported 1,425,044 cases, the highest in Southeast Asia, ahead of the Philippines. With 38,573 deaths, Indonesia ranks third in Asia and 17th in the world. Review of data, however, indicated that the number of deaths may be much higher than what has been reported as those who died with acute COVID-19 symptoms but had not been confirmed or tested were not counted in the certain official death figure.

Indonesia is officially the Republic of Indonesia. This is a country in Southeast Asia and Oceania between the Indian and Pacific oceans. It consists of more than 17 thousand islands, including Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, and parts of Borneo and New Guinea. Indonesia is the world's largest island country and the 14th-largest country by land area, at 1,904,569 square kilometers. With more than 270 million people, Indonesia is the world's 4th-most populous country. Java (the world's most populous island) is home to more than half of the country's population.

The sovereign state is a presidential, constitutional republic with an elected legislature. It has 34 provinces, of which 5 have special status. The country's capital, Jakarta, is the second-most populous urban area in the world. The country shares land borders with Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and the eastern part of Malaysia. Other neighboring countries include Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, Australia, Palau, and India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Despite its large population and densely populated regions, Indonesia has vast areas of wilderness that support one of the world's highest levels of biodiversity.

Indonesian (locally referred to as Bahasa Indonesia) is the primary lingua franca. Indonesian is spoken by over 94% of the population, but it is the primary language of only 20% of the population. Javanese (Jawa) is the most common primary language, spoken by over 30% of the population.
