  2. The next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read, but I actually thought you have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could fix if you werent too busy looking for attention.

    1. An unfortunate derailment occurs when a vehicle (such as a train) runs off its rails. Many derailments are minor. Some are major. All derailments result in temporary disruption of the proper operation of the railway system and they are potentially seriously hazardous to human health and safety. Usually, the derailment of a train can be caused by a collision with another object, an operational error, the mechanical failure of tracks, such as broken rails, or the mechanical failure of certain wheels. Keep in mind that in emergency situations, deliberate derailment with derails or catch points is sometimes used to prevent a more serious harmful accident.

It's frequently possible to fix and "re-rail" a derailed car using a locomotive and a specially designed re-railing frog (a big steel wedge that goes under the wheels). Also hydraulic jacks are often used. If the car is really off the track on one truck (bogie), sometimes cranes are used to lift successfully one side of the car.

A bogie is a chassis or framework that carries a wheelset, attached to a vehicle - a so-called modular subassembly of wheels and axles. Bogies take various forms in various modes of transport.

Here is a more recent train derailment:

(Article from March 16, 2021) MBTA taking new Orange & Red Line cars out of service following Tuesday derailment.

The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority will be taking their new Orange Line and Red Line cars out of service following a slow-speed derailment near Wellington Station on the Orange Line Tuesday morning, the organization said in a release.

The decision was made, "out of an abundance of caution," while the train cars will be out of service to, "allow vehicle engineers to perform a thorough analysis of the cars’ performance," the MBTA wrote Tuesday.

"Working closely with car maker CRRC MA, the MBTA and its engineering experts will work to determine if anything vehicle-related could have been a contributing factor in the derailment," the organization certainly added.

    1. Thanks for thinking about the content of the blog. It takes effort to create greater blog writing.

Some might think that the word "blog" is a truncation of "weblog". This is a discussion or informational website published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries (posts). Posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order, so that the most recent post appears first, at the top of the web page. Blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

    1. Thanks for information about how to reduce risks. Good luck, everyone, with reducing spills.

A so-called "spill pallet" is a bunded secondary containment item that is designed to hold containers of oil and fuels, typically in either a 200-litre drum or in an intermediate bulk container.

Spill Containment Pallets can be the Right Size for Your Material.

This is interesting. A spill pallet is a secondary containment product that is specifically designed to secure drums of fuels and oil, usually in a 205 Litre drum or at an intermediate baggage level. This is because it helps prevent the accidental spillage of fuel or oil. It also helps save time, money, manpower, and storage area space since the product reduces the need to physically store the hazardous material.
