Pilot Debrief on Youtube has the explanation.
A Learjet 60 bound for the Bahamas was cruising at 35,000 feet off the Florida coast when it ran into a huge area of heavy storms. The crew reported ice and moderate turbulence and asked to climb. Less than two minutes later they declared a mayday, and the jet went into a steep dive and hit the ground at about 12:49 PM.
