Manhole explosion compilation

I almost could not believe it when I saw these manhole explosions. Some of these parts that cover the ground, they fly more than 10 meters after the explosion. Amazing manhole explosions caught on camera show brutal explosions. I am sorry for the people that got injured in this video.

Remember, never throw a fire cracker into a manhole. A lot of these people were playing with fire. I think they knew the thing could explode.

A manhole is a small covered opening in a floor, pavement, or other surface to allow a person to enter, especially an opening in a city street leading to a sewer. An example of a sentence: "they were to go down a manhole and then search the sewers."

Manhole explosions are dangerous. How exploding manholes work is a fascinating topic. They really shake the ground. Explosions are typically caused when some kind of a spark from wiring ignites gas inside the manhole. A cast-iron manhole cover can weigh between 85 and 300 pounds. Explosions have propelled these massive discs anywhere from 1 foot to 50 feet into the air. There is risk of injury and loss of power in the aftermath.

Underground cables can become frayed from aging, corrosive chemicals, overload or rats biting them. These cables carry on the order of 13,000 volts of electricity. "Frayed" means (of a fabric, rope, or cord) unraveled or worn at the edge.

These electrical wires can heat up the paper, lead and rubber insulation. The insulation could smolder and catch on fire, releasing gases. "Smolder" means to burn slowly with smoke but no flame. For example, "the bonfire still smoldered, the smoke drifting over the paddock."

The pressure from the gas certainly builds up inside the manhole. An explosion is unfortunate.

There are different types of manholes used for different applications. Manholes are certainly the commonly used maintenance utility underground structures to provide access to installed pipelines for inspection and cleanout. Manholes are a vital component of the water supply and sanitary system.

Usually, there are 3 types of manholes: normal, shallow, and deep. Manholes can be produced using a wide variety of materials comprising of precast concrete, fiberglass, and plastic.
