Coronavirus: Renters in Canada increasingly at risk of losing homes amid pandemic


Global News shows that the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated Canada's affordable housing crisis. 

While evictions were put on hold during the first wave in most provinces, when summer rolled around the ban was lifted and it led to a surge of online eviction hearings. 

Now, a growing number of renters are at risk of losing their homes. Farah Nasser looks at the unprecedented eviction crisis gaining momentum in this country.

Eviction is the removal of a tenant from rental property by the landlord. In some jurisdictions it may also involve the removal of persons from premises that were foreclosed by a mortgagee.
